Quarry in Machu Picchu, Peru -マチュピチュ遺跡の石切り場-
マチュピチュ遺跡のほぼ中心部に、建材の石を切り出す採石場があります。神殿に近接していることからも、完成後にはここもきっと何かの建築物になったのでしょう。ミリ単位で細かく設計するインカ人が、なぜ未完成で遺跡を放棄したのでしょうか。石切り場から見るマチュピチュ遺跡は私のお気に入りの風景です。ここから望むマチュピチュに、日本人の心の琴線に触れる「無常」を感じ取ることができるからだと思っています。

Almost at the center of the Machu Picchu ruins is a quarry where stones for building materials are quarried. The proximity of the quarry to the temple suggests that this area must have been used as some kind of building after the temple was completed. Why would the Incas, who designed their buildings to the millimeter, abandon the ruins when they were unfinished? The view of the Machu Picchu ruins from the quarry is one of my favorite sights.

Casi en el centro de las ruinas de Machu Picchu hay una cantera donde se extraen piedras para materiales de construcción. La proximidad de la cantera al templo sugiere que esta zona debió de utilizarse como algún tipo de edificio una vez terminado el templo. ¿Por qué los incas, que diseñaban sus edificios al milímetro, abandonarían las ruinas cuando estaban inacabadas? La vista de las ruinas de Machu Picchu desde la cantera es una de mis vistas favoritas.

Mt.Huayna Picchu, Peru -マチュピチュの聖峰ワイナピチュ-
マチュピチュ遺跡の背後の山は、ワイナピチュ山(2693m)です。山頂までインカ時代の段々畑と石の階段が連なります。このインカの古道を登って約１時間、山頂からはマチュピチュ遺跡を見下ろす絶景です。

Behind the MachuPicchu ruins is Mt.HuaynaPicchu (2693m). Terraced fields and stone steps dating back to the Inca period lead up to the summit. From the top of the mountain we can see e a magnificent view of the Machu Picchu ruins.

Detrás de las ruinas de Machu Picchu se encuentra el monte Huayna Picchu (2693 m). Campos en terrazas y escalones de piedra que datan de la época Inca conducen a la cima. Desde la cima de la montaña podemos ver una magnífica vista de las ruinas de Machu Picchu.

昨日は紅葉を見に那須塩原へ。天気はいまいちでしたが、人が少なく静かでした。

Ayer fui a Nasu Shiobara a ver las hojas de otoño. Desgraciadamente no hizo buen tiempo, pero fue tranquilo con poca gente. El otoño es una estación muy importante para la sensibilidad japonesa.

Yesterday I went to Nasu Shiobara to see the autumn leaves. Unfortunately it was not good weather, but it was quiet and uncrowded. Autumn is a very important season for Japanese sensibility.
